  • I'm Moving!

It's official, ladies and gentlemen, in May I will be moving into a more cost-effective apartment!

Ever since my roommate told me she was moving out, I had been dreading double the rent payment. Frankly, it's been a struggle.  I've been living on Lenten meals at church and hot lunch at school every day -- with an orange for breakfast and maybe some ramen noodles or rice for dinner. Add in nearly a month's wages in car repairs on top of that, and yikes!  My savings are gone and I'm living by the skin of my teeth....sort of.  I haven't had to give up television or internet, and my electricity is still on and my bills are being paid, but fun things like eating out and going to movies have seriously declined.

The situation I will be moving into has to be a work of God.  The lady who cooks and serves lunch here at our little school just so happens to have the upstairs of her house designed so she can rent it out.  (She lives very close to the local college/university.) The tenant who was living there is getting married soon, so she's moving out. I went to check it out, and although the upstairs has some weird angles and walls (because of the roof), the house is very cute and cozy.  The rent will be much nicer on my wallet, too, hopefully helping me get to Philadelphia this summer for our annual meet-up with internet friends from The Wotch.

I hope telling this story hasn't made me seem like a complainer, because I'm really not complaining about this.  God had and has a plan for me, and I think he was teaching me a much needed lesson on how to plan my budget. Thankfully, the stress hasn't lasted too long, especially in the climate we're living in today.  It is a definite reason that I should be praising God and thanking him for all the gifts and blessings in my life: parents, boyfriend and friends who all encourage me when I'm being cranky. All glory to HIM!!! :D

Have a blessed day, week, month...and I'll see you next time around. :)

It's been a whole month since I've given up cable tv and internet... and I really don't miss them much! I'm able to "borrow" internet from Jon/others when I need it, and I get ABC over the airwaves (for now)... Best $67/month decision I've made! P.S. Your new place is cute!
